Jawbone Renewal Treatment

When a tooth is lost, it’s not just the visible gap that changes; the bone beneath can begin to shrink over time.

This can happen gradually, often without obvious symptoms, but it can affect whether dental implants are possible without further treatment.

Bone regeneration (or bone grafting) is a procedure used to rebuild and strengthen the jawbone, creating a stable foundation for future implant treatment.

    How Bone Regeneration Works

Bone grafting involves placing a specialised material into the area where bone has been lost.

This material acts as a scaffold, encouraging your body to gradually regenerate new bone over time.

    Step 2

    Placement of Graft Material

The graft is carefully placed in the targeted area to support new bone growth.

    Step 3

    Healing & Integration

    Success stories. Real outcomes

“Alex was fantastic. I went for the extraction of a broken tooth, but I didn't even know he had taken it out. I haven't been to a dentist for 12 years. I am definitely using this one. The aftercare is great. Shame the front of the building doesn't represent the great decor inside. The staff are very friendly and pleasant, which is a good thing to keep you calm. I guess you can tell I don't like the dentist, but I shook hands with Alex, a great man.”

    Patient stories

“I went in after I had a severely broken wisdom tooth with an ongoing infection. NHS wouldn’t remove it and wanted to put me on a 3-year wait list. I called another private dentist, who was unable to do it, in case it was surgical, but passed me the number of Gwersyllt Dental. They were absolutely fantastic. I was very nervous, having been in pain for over a week and made out as if it was a really big deal extraction, but all the staff and the dentist were absolutely brilliant, I couldn’t fault them! Thank you so much. He'll be back!”

    Patient stories

“I have an extreme phobia of dentists, following a very bad experience some 30 years ago. This resulted in my having to have full dentures. Gwersyllt and Dr Tirca have been brilliant. The care, treatment and understanding I received were second to none. Every step was explained and taken slowly to ensure I felt at ease. I am surprised at the fit and match of the dentures. Thank you all.”

    Patient stories

“All staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Mr Tirca is very diligent and professional, recently helping me with an ongoing issue. Check-up appointments are always arranged to your convenience.”

    Patient stories

“You're greeted with a lovely smile and a great welcome. The surgery is spotless, the dentist is exceptional, all is explained in detail with the work to be carried out, all the staff are friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for great dental care. Thank you to all who work there.”

    Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a bone graft before implants?

Dental implants need enough healthy bone to support them.

If the bone has reduced over time, grafting helps rebuild this foundation so the implant can be placed securely.

    Is bone grafting always necessary?

No. Some patients have sufficient bone for implants without additional treatment. A detailed assessment will determine what is needed.

How long does bone grafting take to heal?

Healing time varies depending on the extent of the graft, but it typically takes several months for the bone to fully integrate.

    Is bone grafting painful?

The procedure is carried out with your comfort in mind, and any discomfort afterwards is usually manageable and temporary.

What happens after the bone has healed?

Once the bone has integrated and strengthened, the area can be prepared for implant placement.
